Wilton Library's Summer Reading ProgramTravel the 50 States--Wilton Library's children's summer reading program kicks off this week with the theme of exploring the United States. Each week kids will see a different focus, from the South and Appalachia to the Prairies to California. Craft programs, live animal events, musical programs and Drop-In Story Times throughout the summer. Children may sign-up, decorate their automobile-shaped posters and keep a reading log. Children can join in at any point during the program which ends Friday, August 15, 2008. For ages 2 - 12. Call library for details. More information.

Children can put on their pajamas, grab a blanket, and come to Wilton Library for stories before they head home for bed. For ages 2-6; children under the age of 4 must be accompanied by adults. Additional dates: July 21 and Aug. 4. No registration.

Children read novels, and then come to the library for a book talk. Additional dates: July 29, Aug. 12. No charge for the program. Registration required for each individual meeting.
Rocky Brook Frogs Travel the 50 States

Roaring Brook Nature Center brings a slide presentation of frogs, along with live frogs and a very large toad. For ages 4-12. No charge. No advance registration. Space is limited to 150 people. First 150 people (children and adult) will be admitted. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets will be handed out a half-hour before program begins. Award-winning artist, Wendell Minor, has had a romance with America since his childhood in Aurora, Illinois. In his illustrations for children's books he has used his love of the outdoors to inspire children to go out into the fields and woods and develop a positive perspective about the beauty of the natural world.
