Time for TeensA frequent teenage lament, “there’s nothing to do,” can be easily dismissed with one quick look at the library’s Web site under Teens. The month of June alone brings a concert, book talks, a photo contest and a fun body collage program to kids entering grades 7–12. Fades to Gray, a local teen band, plays classic rock tunes on Tuesday, June 17, from 8–9:30 p.m. Members include Greg Golterman, Will Boudreau, Devon Jeffries, John Liebowitz and Jeff Liebowitz. Refreshments will be served. On Wednesday throughout the summer, from 4–5 p.m. beginning June 18, teens can drop in to chat with other teens in an informal, roundtable discussion about the great reads they finished. Starting Monday, June 23, the “Gotcha Reading” Teen Photo Contest begins for kids entering grades 7–12 and 2008 high school graduates. Prizes will be awarded for the funniest shot, the most original place found reading and for the most artistic. Photos should be submitted in 5 x 7 or 8 x 10 formats. Photos will be displayed in the library in August. Photos can be dropped off at the circulation desk if the Teen desk is closed. Submissions must be in by July 25. Teens will create life-size images of themselves using paper, markers, yarn, fabric and other materials in Body Collage for Teens on Thursday, June 26, from 3–5 p.m. Materials will be provided by the library. Advance registration is suggested. To register: www.wiltonlibrary.org/events or call 762-3950. All of the teen programs mentioned above are made possible by the John and Patricia Curran Teen Fund.
